Hunterton Farm

Owned by Steve and Cindy Stewart, began in 1981 on an 80-acre, leased family farm in Lexington, KY. The farm moved operations to Paris, KY in 1996 and since has grown to over 900 acres on land that consisted of the famed Stoner Creek Stud and historic Woodlawn Farm.

That kind of growth doesn't happen overnight. It comes from a solid business plan, hard work, and a constant focus on the farm's main goal:

Breeding and raising exceptional racehorses.

Hunterton—named, by the way, after Steve Stewart's middle name, Hunter—is unique in the fact that it is the largest Standardbred farm in the world that does not stand stallions. That offers the farm the freedom to focus 100% on breeding each mare to the best stallion choice possible.

Those breeding choices, combined with Hunterton's proven ability in raising what would become many of the sport's greatest racehorses, led to tremendous demand for the farm's services…and eventually the creation of Hunterton Sales Agency.

The agency is the sales outlet for yearlings bred and raised by the farm for itself, its partners, and its clients. And Hunterton never forgets that it is those exceptional clients who are responsible for giving the farm and sales agency every chance to be successful!

Hunterton now breeds over 200 mares each year and sells approximately 150 yearlings each fall at the auctions in Lexington, KY, Sudbury, OH, and Harrisburg, PA. The success Hunterton's horses have enjoyed on the racetrack has translated to the sales ring, as Hunterton Sales Agency has become one of harness racing's leading yearling consignors year after year.

Hunterton takes great pride in selling clients' horses for top dollar, and perhaps even greater satisfaction when those who purchase Hunterton-sold horses win the sport's major stakes events.
